Dear One East Palo Alto Supporter:
It’s that time of year when we write to request your support for a very special annual fundraising event put on by One East Palo Alto (OEPA) Neighborhood Improvement Initiative. That event is the annual “Embracing East Palo Alto Youth” Fundraising Luncheon (see ATT-1/Invitation). This year’s luncheon is exciting because it marks the ninth anniversary of the event and provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate both the 12th anniversary of the Sponsored Employment Program (SEP) as well as OEPA’s 16th anniversary as a successful 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the City of East Palo Alto’s only community-based intermediary and premier convener.
As you may recall, OEPA’s mission is to improve the social, physical, spiritual, educational and economic well-being of East Palo Alto (EPA). In the process of working to achieve this mission, OEPA has effectively implemented many improvements to quality of life in EPA (see ATT-2/OEPA Fact Sheet and ATT-3/OEPA Organizational Chart). One of the most widely acclaimed improvements is the Sponsored Employment Program, a violence prevention initiative planned and implemented in partnership with College Track, El Concilio of San Mateo County, JobTrain and Live In Peace. Piloted in 2005, SEP is now a highly acclaimed summer jobs, mentoring and community connectedness initiative that has served over 1050 of EPA’s youth and young adults at highest risk (see ATT-4/SEP overview).
A key strategy for sustaining SEP and other OEPA youth programs is the annual fundraising luncheon. We are therefore writing to invite you to support this very worthwhile event, details of which are below.
9th Annual “Embracing East Palo Alto Youth” Fundraising Luncheon
Friday, June 10, 20156, 11:30 a.m. –1:30 p.m.
Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley at East Palo Alto
2050 University Avenue, East Palo Alto, CA 94303
OEPA’s accomplishments such as SEP and many others have previously garnered major support for the luncheon. Such support includes lead sponsorship by the Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley every year since 2008 and, of course, generous donations from the agency’s many supporters – both individuals and organizations. We hope that you will join the Four Seasons and others by purchasing a table sponsorship or individual seats this year. Here’s how: (1) review the enclosed Table Sponsorship Levels and Benefits (ATT-5) information; (2) complete the enclosed Donation Form (ATT-6) with all requested information, and (3) mail (or hand deliver) the Donation Form with your payment to OEPA at the address listed on this letterhead by April 22, 2016. If you have any questions or require additional information, please contact OEPA’s Office Manager, Ana Pulido, at 650.391.3617 ext. 10 or [email protected]
On behalf of OEPA’s Board of Directors and staff, as well as the many EPA young people and their families that benefit from this event each year, we thank you for all of the support you have provided to the luncheon in the past. We also thank you in advance for helping to make the 9th Annual “Embracing East Palo Alto Youth” Luncheon the most successful one ever.
Sincerely,
Faye McNair-Knox, Ph.D. Arthur Lim, Pharm.D., Chairperson
